(no subject)
Aug. 6th, 2007 11:05 pmToday, a small gift.
"No crooked leg, no bleared eye,
No part deformed out of kind,
Nor yet so ugly half can be
As is the inward, suspicious mind."
Written by Elizabeth I on a psalter she presented to someone sometime (before November 17, 1558, say the notes.)
I'm up to the letters in "Queen Elizabeth I. Selected Works" (ed Steven W. May). If any of you are interested, I'd be happy to report back on them. Makes a change for the Middle Ages. Don't expect analysis, however, since I'm reading them entirely for fun.
