So much to report and so many notes to report from, but all I want to do is sit with my cousin in front of the TV while she writes and I edit. She's one of my favourite relatives and I'm really excited about this piece and it will make for a nice evening. This means you're not going to get a ten thousand word essay on the nature of Supanova and Supanovans.

The wondrous Ms Fallon did a good report and even put photographs in it (including one of a Buffy actor claiming he was doing his 'sexy' look. I think her blog is at http://www.jenniferfallon.com/blog . Jenny was in particularly fine form and so was Marianne de Pierres and so were the others who signed at Borders.

Jenny and Marianne kept me sane by providing me refuge when I got nervous of crowds. I am *so* not good in large crowds of strangers unless I'm talking from stage or something. I hid behind notepaper at times and I stirred the few friends I had there (and yes, I love their writing, so I can honestly claim to be a rabid fan as well, but don't tell Jenny that) and so really enjoyed the other elements of Supanova. If I ever get to go again, I will see if I can talk a couple of folks to go with me because it really wasn't fair on the writers to keep bugging them, even if I did heed Jenny's request for chocolate and Marianne's request for Johnny Depp.

I ought to duly report that I did ask Marianne if she's working on her fluffy pink book yet. The first time she simply loomed over me and smiled down at me (I really oughtn't have told her how much I love the edge and challenge in her writing, ought I?) but the second time she reacted in a much more satisfactory manner. If I die young, it will probably be due to asking about the fluffy pink books of cyberpunk writers.

Jenny took me with her to find Dace a present. I didn't realise how it it is to find presents for Dace. He knows what he wants and - unlike present buying for most seven year -olds - cute substitutes are not an option. Dace is Jenny's grandchild and a force in the universe, Jenny is a wonderful raconteur and the stories that she tells about Dace make me truly wonder about just how long it is before he rules the world. I wonder if I should ask him about fluffy pink books?

PS I'm not throwing my notes out - if any of you want to know my thoughts on Supanova and the presentations and my various observations just say and I'll do another post on it soonish. If you don't particularly care one way or another, remain silent and I shall use my notes for their original intent - to help me think about certain fictional issues. Supanova solved a couple of minor problems, you see, simply due to its shape and place and layout and the fact that ten thousand people go through there in 2 days and there is a wonderful balcony-thing which was perfect for observing it all. Also, I got 10 issues of 1970s British comics for food history.

PPS I was too shy to meet most people, so if you're wondering what this Buffy fan said to Xander the answer is 'nothing.' I did, however, wonder why he and Gough Whitlam favour pink shirts.

PPPS My publisher keeps telling people I need to be protected from morris dancers. Or maybe it's that they need to be protected from me. I bet I know what she's been editing recently!
