I'm full of news and reminders today.

news

Of real interest to small press publishers. Let me be lazy and quote from my publisher (with her permission)
"A little over a year ago, just after making some angst-filled posts about distribution, I was invited to work on a product directed toward small publishers. The initial phase of the project was to design software that small publishers can use to run the publishing side of their business. i.e., orders, inventory, reports, and royalties. The subsequent stages, which we're working on now, involve creating a web site where small presses and self publishers can interact and (hopefully) find ways to band together to help each other get their books to market.

We're still a long way from the later parts of the plan (i.e., the web site), but the first beta version of the software (DashBook) is finally ready. If any of you are inclined to download our Windows beta and give it a test drive (it's free for now), it would be great. You can read more about it here:

Dashbook

Or, you can download it right away here:

Dashbook download

Because DashBook is still in beta, we can possibly incorporate suggestions and feedback in the version we release."

I had other news, but I've overworked with this idiot virus that refuses to go away, and tomorrow is a big day (more overwork!) and I've forgotten them so I'll come back with little bulletins should my memory revive.

reminders

Don't forget - my place on election night! If you come and everyone is at the tally room (unlikely, but I like to plan) there will be food on the patio, so just go to the road side of my flat and find a seat and relax in the barmy weather. If we have a weather change before then, then it might be balmy instead of barmy, which is even more relaxing.

Chanukah is coming up and there will be gambling and chocolate coins at my place, as usual. Email if you want to know more.

I've forgotten all the rest of the reminders. Such is life. I now have two students writing an election haiku a day, however, which can only improve the universe.
