Mar. 16th, 2008 07:34 pmLast night I was given the coolest early birthday present. We went to see The Hatpin, the latest Sydney musical theatre. The lady sitting next to me told me it was musical theatre and pointed me to her daughter in the cast. Her daughter has a lovely talent, which made sitting next to the women rather less arduous than it could have been.
We had a lot of fun (I love music and drama as a combo and I got to pick holes in the history, to boot). I kept thinking "the weekend can't continue this marvellous," but it did. Today we went to see the Archibald's and to say a special hello to Nick's amazing portrait of David Stretton. Lunch was a pinic in the Botanic Gardens with Cat and Rob. Some expected friends were there (Chris with no beard or head-hair) and some unexpected (Richard and Aileen, Nick and Adrien). It was totally lovely.
We sang Claire 'Happy Birthday', I showed everyone my vampire-statue photos from yesterday, Rob and Iain and I debated the economics of giant monster dung as manure, and... lots of things. Friends and food and just a lovely afternoon. Happiness may well be daikaiju dreaming in the Sydney Botanic Gardens.
