Today is so much a news day. I'm still rather shaky, but the good news outweighs the "why am I still sick?" feeling.

I can't give you all the good news - some of it is still in development. Don't you hate it when people say that? Some of it is small and insignificant to anyone but me and needs quiet treasuring rather than public announcements. Some of it, though, is reportable.

The first can report itself. There is a lovely post on Felicity Pulman's blog. Flick is wonderful to work with and I always have the best fun when she writes a new volume of the Janna Mysteries.

The second thing is that the cavalry has ridden to the rescue and my bedroom has been denuded of many allergens (to stop the sinusitis part of the being sick) and my recycling and rubbish are all out. Thank you, cavalry! Chronic illness does a particularly evil interface with things like allergies, and having someone else vaccuum makes the biggest difference. Also, the same cavalry delivered me DVDs to watch. This means I can slow down and give my body enough time to get well, which is a rare luxury.

The third thing is that the medlars exposed by the drinking of medlar liqueur the other night have decided to start bletting (we were drinking the green medlar liqueur) and the layer on top, exposed the the air, has turned a dark colour. I was going to throw them out and put the liqueur in screw cap bottles, but I thought "I ought to taste this first." The calvary also tasted one. Both of us returned for seconds and eyed off the bowl before we decided that so much alcoholic fruit in the early afternoon would probably lead to doom. They are even nicer than fresh bletted medlars!! And I get to eat them in stages, as the liqueur is drunk and a new top layer is exposed to air.

That's not all the news, but it's enough to pull you out of my doldrums.

I forgot: the cavalry requested that I post this to delight your inner music arranger.
