Summer is coming. How do I know? There are thunderstorms coming from the west. They may not get here, but they will definitely hit Culcairn. This is what happened last time I got these particular aches. The Lilleys got the rain and I got the pain.

I want the storm to reach Canberra this time. I want some sound and fury to signify that weather-sense is worth something.

The Sydney course is not happening this weekend - there will be something totally exciting next year in its stead. Watch this space for details. Just don't watch it for a little, because this year has to happen first. This week, too. I may not be teaching on Saturday or Sunday, but I am most certainly teaching on Wednesday and Thursday.

And it's Sukkot from tonight. I wonder if I can wing a Sydney picnic using Sukkot as an excuse? This is such a perfect time of year for a picnic in Sydney. In an ideal world, it would be a graveyard picnic at dusk with horror-writers.

The storm has come and gone and the picnic details have been decided. All the best cemeteries get locked at crucial hours, so it has to be a midday picnic. Anyone who wants to meet the Triffitts and myself at St Stephen's (Camperdown) at midday this Sunday will be entirely welcome. BYO everything. We might end up browsing Newtown shops or haunting cafes afterwards, if previous experiences are any guide.
