Colour me amused. I keep hearing stories from editors about enthusiastic writers who wonder why publishing takes so long. I've heard how some writers will contact an editor almost as soon as a closing date is past saying "Why haven't I heard from you yet?" or "You must have missed reading my submission: here it is again."

Now it's happened to me. Editing an anthology is a very special kind of club, I realise. All the stories editors tell you are true, even the ones that look too silly for words. I wonder how many anthologies one had to work through to experience the full range of curious behaviour? No-one - alas (and despite some queries on exactly how I like my chocolate) - has tried to bribe me yet, for instance, so one anthology is patently not enough.

Anyhow, back to work. We may not be ready for publication 3 days after the closing date for submissions, but we're making good progress and I'm in danger os slowing things down by playing in LJ instead of writing evil comments all over other peoples' work.
