Feb. 25th, 2009 04:23 pmToday I introduced my class to trickster stories. I wanted them to have an easy way of structuring stories and we're working our way through folk motifs and myths and legends and tricksters always have the best stories, so...
We started with Gwydion and made a detour via Coyote and ended up with Loki. I gave the the mushroom part of the Gwydion story and told them to go hunt more and I used Loki's lust for Thor's hammer as a way of structuring a trickster story. it is a really, really good tale structure. It's been borrowed a bit much by fnatsy writers, but that's because it's sound.
And that was my Wednesday morning.
