What do you do when you've placed that last crucial paper for taxes somehwere so safe you can't find it (or you threw it out by mistake) and you're so tired you get a glass of water and then can't find that, when you're determined to enjoy Purim, and are on duty for most of Flycon and have a virus that won't go away? Also, when punctuation fails you and you can't turn the tap OFF and you have a sneaking suspicion that you have forgotten to give your bio for FLycon and it's now too late. I don't know what you'd do, but I'm taking five minutes and stopping to smell the roses.

I don't have any roses, but I do have five phrases [livejournal.com profile] eneit gifted me with.

1. Medlar Liqueur - research or relaxation? Neither, in fact. I do it for family connection. A favourite aunt taught me the old family liqueur recipe and every time I make it, I think of her. Auntie Joan would have loved the medlar experiments. I shall decant one tonight, if my guests want to drink it.

2. Ants - what did they do to deserve what the mirror did to them? They worshipped it. Maybe. It depends. Read the book? Only a few months to go. October someone told me it was out. Then you can argue about ants with anyone who'll argue back.

3. Happiness - your favourite everyday happiness? Friends.

4. Lttle gifts - is it truth to the old saying fun to give, fun to recieve? Absolutely. Which reminds me, I have to get to the post office somehow, sometime. I have a whole chair filled with things that need posting. One of them is for Sari and I have visions of her looking for it every day for months.

5. Time Team - admit it, you watch it just to laugh at Phil Harding's hat. Is it wrong of me to admit I have not noticed his hat?

What I ought to have done last post was tell you where to find me at Flycon. I'll be all over the place (as commitee person) but I am on some program items, just in case you need top pracitse cat-calling or asking difficult questions. The easy questions you can pose me from tomorrow - I'll have an open thread for questions this weekend.

Jane Austen in and out of Genre
Panel: Why the rise in her popularity, is it really all due to Colin Firth?
Gillian Polack, Pati Nagle 3 pm my time (other times are on the program so you don't have to do so much as work out where I live)

Fantasy and History: Historians who write fantasy
Panel: How much history do we need to make historical SF and fantasy work, and for what types of readers?
Gillian Polack, Marie Brennan, a_d_medievalist, green_knight, Pati Nagle 9 am Sunday (did I read that right? do I really have to be intelligent at 9 am on a SUnday? I don't need a crystal ball to see coffee in my future)

Author chat - 3 pm Sunday
Come and chat. I won't be scintillatingly witty, so you don't have to be. Ask about anthologies and novels and editing and ants and dead morris dancers and blogging and food. BYO virtual chocolate.
