I have all sorts of things to say about writing, about reading, about how books look in bulk and fresh off the press, but I think I shall say merely that Flycon starts tomorrow at midnight my time. The program/programme/schedule/timetable is here.

People I intend to meet online during Flycon include Kaaron Warren, Chaz Brenchley, Geoff Ryman, and... and... too many people. I shall be on the computer quite a lot, having a fabulous time. Even more fabulous when I realise I'm on a Jane Austen panel and a history and fantasy panel, myself. I won't know if I'm historian or fiction writer. This is going to be so much fun!

I need a list.

My list needs to say things like:
- make Hal Spacejock jokes when Simon Haynes is round (wear protective armour)
- ask Jennifer Fallon how many people she can kill in one chapter (wear protective armour and wit-repelling ointment)
- ask Chaz Brenchley the recipe for the virtual food in his chatroom (there had better be virtual food in his chat, otherwise I shall think he's an imposter)
- demand more information about her next book from Kaaron Warren (and make robot jokes, but nice ones: angry robot jokes would be in bad taste)
- find out if thunderstorms affect novels - that's a good question for Dave Freer (but I might need that armour)
- ask Jack Dann if he wants some chocolate (the answer should be 'yes') and about his next book
- thank Jack Dann for his brilliant cover comment (Jack is the only person who gets two entries in my list - that's because the cover comment was on Masques)
- ask Kate Forsyth if she still has silver shoes and if wearing them takes her anywhere interesting (also what the move from adult to children's books has been like)
- ask Tamara Mazzei lots of things (mostly polite)
- ask Stephen Hunt about courts of the air (I do like that book).

I shall go make up my list, which may or may not look like the one I just typed. You can make your own, or you can borrow from mine. See you online over the weekend!

PS I want to win the prize for the masquerade. It's an exceptionally cool prize and I want it. If I put in a picture of a flower pot, d'you think the judges will mistake it for me in a costume? People on Facebook sometimes mistake me for a biscuit tin, after all.
