May. 19th, 2009 09:42 pmMy mother and I chatted for ages yesterday about a talk she was going to give and then ages today about the actual talk she gave. We spent most time arguing over whether Mary Bligh would have talked to Esther Abrahams. I pointed to the very small number of people who Bligh could talk to. Mum pointed out that an Jewish ex-convict was socially unacceptable. I pointed out who Esther (eventually) married. Mum pointed out... and so it went.
I do wonder though, how small the population needs to be before classes break down. I rather suspect that early nineteenth century NSW was that size.
