What else did I do today besides discovering historical prisons?
threemonkeys and I had an expedited version of Mum's special tour of the Jewish Museum. We also got to see the exhibition of early comics. While I nobly restrained myself from buying Ned Kelly masks at the Old Melbourne Goal Museum shop, I fell into temptation at the Jewish Museum shop. Since people tell me I am recognisable with or without glasses and since this impedes my superhero style, I now have a Superman mask I can don when I want to leap tall buildings in a single bound etc. I've seen the very first issue of Superman. I know that early US comics and Jewish theatre are more closely linked than I realised. Oh, and I found out that Andy Capp was Jewish.
My reading for Continuum includes books by Elizabeth Knox, Libba Bray, Lloyd Alexander, Laurie King and Justina Robson. Mum's library card enjoyed the exercise. And I - as ever - enjoyed Mum's local library. It always has books I've been meaning to read, just waiting for me. As they are now. Knox beckons...
