Nov. 3rd, 2009 12:20 amI found I couldn't feed people just dry biscuits with toppings, so I've invented a kind of rolled oats/chocolate/coconut slice thingie for tomorrow. It's setting now. I shall cut it roughly so that it looks as if the untidiness was intentional. If it sets soft, I can roll it into balls and dip them in more coconut.
I tested it before I put it to set and it's really yummy, with a lovely chewy texture. It's interesting that looks don't matter nearly as much when there's chocolate involved. I only hope that everyone else brings savoury dishes!
ETA: Since we're getting rolling storms throughout the night, I have given up on sleep and made an artichoke/kashmiri chili dip as well. Thos biscuits are determiend to be used! If I end up with no sleep, then I shall probably take a party's worth of food with me! The weather forecast says that sometime during the day things will improve and even cool down. It's the dip that makes me hope for miracles. It's the one I used to make for every party as an undergraduate - once I made 6 flavours for the one event and they were all eaten - it's a very good dip, but sadly healthy.
