Nov. 8th, 2009 11:40 amToday is a day for sorting things. I'm making a start on the very wordy confetti that makes my place look interesting. I'm sorting out medicine and food and maybe popular religion* in my students' minds and teaching them how to sort out the various roles food can play in their built societies (food is never a neutral player in society). I'm posting letters to interesting places. I'm doing the basic shopping to get me through till Wednesday week.
I've forgotten what else I'm doing. I'm too busy thinking about next Thursday afternoon. I'll be in Sydney then. If anyone wants to meet for coffee Thursday afternoon is the time. My bus gets in at lunchtime, I see my cousin quickly, then I have until 6.15 pm (when I have to find her again at a mysterious place that I will know Thursday lunchtime) to do with as I will. I've decided I shall be in the vicinity of the QVB until I have to leave to find my cousin.
*If I really wanted to annoy people I could talk about the role popular religion plays in Australian society. I'll keep that in mind next time someone tells me I ought to enjoy secular Santa. I only had the conversation once in the last five days and that was fleet and passing, so I should stop fretting about it soon. Most people around me have worked out that I am not them.
