Dec. 26th, 2009 10:39 amMy last two days have been very mixed.
The really wonderful part of it was Christmas Eve, where I visited friends and shared their festivities. We had a ball.
The worst bit is my health but, in the spirit of midsummer kindness, I'll keep those details from you. It's a bit better today, because the weather change (Cyclone Lawrence!) finally happened and I split yesterday between sleep and work. Because of the sleep and work, I didn't thave to worry too much about Christmas TV. This was a first.
There may be interesting results from yesterday's work. Or there may not. Either way, I feel a touch of quiet joy. I applied for something, you see, and received back (very quickly) the best "I love your application letter" possible. So even if I'm not suitable for the actual work, I have that letter to bring me joy.
I did other work as well, of course, but am not caught up enough yet to edit. This is just as well, because my beta readers have had other stuff to do this week. I shall start tomorrow, regardless, however, as I only have 2 weeks to finish the worst of everything before the outside world intervenes. Two weeks is plenty if I can spend much time at my desk, but it will be tight going if I get interesting bad health days.
Today I'm out for a little, with the friends I was with 2 days ago. The rest of the day is work. I might poll my friends to find a suitable joke for the blog today. It's Dad's birthday, after all. If he were still alive, he'd be 86. Every year, people must suffer bad jokes in my vicinity, in his memory. It's far better to celebrate his birth with his favourite sort of joke (bad, but preferably punnnishly bad) than to morosely miss him.
If anyone would like to share their jokes in the comments, I'll create a post from them later, and we can all take a moment and ponder upon the Achilles heel of the nicest bloke you're ever likely to meet.
