Dec. 29th, 2009 03:06 pmAAPT have left me a very nice (albeit grumpy) message on my answering machine. They're crediting me the $260, but without taking responsibility for the problem. They say it's a gesture of goodwill, but not to leave my account unpaid again. Since I didn't intend it to be unpaid initially, that suits me just fine. Thank you, AAPT.
Just because it amuses me, Mum was astonished I had called the Telecommunications Ombudsman in the first place. I'm more the sort of person who leaves things lie for the peace of everyone. If it weren't for that promise of no reconnection fees, AAPT's share of the problem (not telling me there was a problem, for one thing nor that there would be fees for reconnecting the mobile services I don't use) plus my considerable financial issues, I wouldn't have gone there now. Thank goodness my ISP listened to the complaint and were pragmatic about it and just dealt.
There's more news but really, that was the big piece. I can afford to live (frugally) till the end of February, which is when my various income streams should start up again (all going well). And that might well include being able to use the back door again. This means, of course, that I have to get well enough to clean my patio. For some reason it has a lot of toys and beer bottles this year, and they need cleaning. I'll give the toys to my next door neighbour and recycle the beer bottles. If anyone wants lots of leaves and things for their gardens, just come round and collect it.
Some of my Chalet School books are now on loan to a friend who wants to see why I was amused at the appearance of Josephine Bettany in Lavie Tidhar's novel. I need to go back and make a list of other books I have that he uses in interesting ways. If I get time, I shall. Right now, my spare time is being taken up with seeing friends and being unwell. It's tempting all the same.
