Mar. 8th, 2010 10:04 amI'm spending today with writerly friends. The aim is to get much written and also to enjoy ourselves. My personal aim is to catch up on some of the things (mostly editing) that have been held up by the health stuff and also to see if I can find a way of doing a day's continuoous work without my eyes going too funky. Mostly, though, I'm looking forward to time with friends.
Yesterday's thunderstorm turned out to be a part of a roiling weather pattern that's swirling over Victoria and the ACT and southern NSW. From the air, it looks like the clouds are trying to form a galaxy.
The good bit is all that rain. The bad bit is that I get thunderstorm warnings echoing inside me whenever a certain part of the spiral nears Canberra. Last night was almost sleepness and I am very thankful to Veronica Mars (and the friend who let me borrow it). I'm forbidden to use most of my special thunderstorm abatement techniques because of the kidney damage and last night was when I remembered how bad things used to be.
This is another reason Im glad I'm being picked up soon and am spending the day with friends. It's a very special kind of time out.
ETA: The galaxy has started dissolving. The rain (and maybe storms) are moving to Tassie. Hopefully it will play more nicely with Taswegians than it has with some others. My mother had ten inches of hail to clear and pile of downed leaf underneath. The downed leaf was blocking the gutter. She averted a flood, but she did have a massive haildrift in the small courtyard, looking artistic and cold.
