Jun. 12th, 2010 09:28 pmA very quiet day has improved the physical side of things and I'm dealing with the other side. I have to admit, i could do without the soap opera elements of my life, sometimes. One of my friends commented that I'd done interesting things. I haven't, really, but the extraordinary and strange often gravitates towards me. Other people have to travel and lead exciting lives: I stay in my loungeroom (I'm still famous in my loungeroom, in case you were wondering) and excitement plonks itself on my desk.
I wonder if this is why I write domestic novels, mostly. Not that I'm writing one now. Today I almost decided I needed a Knight Templar in my WIP. I already have a piece of the True Cross, after all. And a saint. And an epic hero. And a mountain hideaway.
What other Medievalish things would you want in your dream time travel novel? I can't promise to include them, but I can certainly promise to consider them.
Actually - and seriously - what kinds of things do you like to see when you open a book set in the 12th-14th centuries? I mostly look for things I don't want to see, like Modern French or digital watches.
PS It will hit 0 degrees outside sometime in the next half hour. This weather report brought to you by hot spiced tea. Which reminds me, I'm nearly out of milk.
