Much Excitement
Aug. 3rd, 2010 04:03 pmI'm not making much sense today. I didn't make much sense yesterday, but that was quite different. Yesterday I hadn't received an email from Kaaron Warren's publisher (Angry Robot - Kaaron's book is my personal favourite for winning that category) congratulating me on being nominated for a Ditmar. I got this just before I left Sydney and Iain and I checked the complete list on the bus into town (he went to work: I came back to sunny Canberra) and lots of people who I know and love and whose work I know and love have been nominated. I am ecstatically happy, but not making much sense. I have recovered my ability to apostrophise correctly, which is something. And I'm down to 26 books on my must-be-read-before-AussieCon list (I would be down to 23, but some got added).
The big thing I'm over the moon about is Life Through Cellophane. I keep looking at that list of five books and smiling. Thank you everyone who nominated it!
I keep thinking that it's very cool that the Conflux Banquet's been nominated, too, since next year will be the very last one I do. In fact, it was the Conflux Banquet Cookbook that took me to Sydney (there was a reason why it was such a foodie weekend - I'm very lucky in the amount of Gillian-stuff my friends put up with.)- Nick Stathopoulos is as excited about it as I am and it's going to look glorious. I gave him printouts of the stuff I have been furiously working on and I can let it sit until later in the year.
For everyone who hasn't seen the Ditmar list, it's here.
And now I need a cuppa. Maybe it will render me coherent. Probably not, though.
