My body keeps telling me that it's been a big month or so and that I need rest. My lists keep telling me I am behind on too many things and need work. I mediated: this morning I rested and now I am about to make a big pot of coffee and work solidly until it's finished. Then I get a long hot bath, and then I work some more. Then I tell both my body and my schedule "So there" and eat dinner.

PS I'm now down to 1 1/4 piles of burglary-induced disorder. From here on in, all disorder is Gillian-induced.

I'm saving my eye some work by reading one review book less. I've decided to think about why some books are unreviewable by some people and to write about that, instead. That will be down the track, though (I've taken 500 words of notes, so I won't forget my thoughts or have wasted those three chapters of book) and I still have a ton of other work to do.

I also have to find something else for now, I mean, to replace that particular slot that the particular book was to have appeared in. It was itself a replacement. I was going to do a second essay on the travel reading I sorted out last year, but of course my netbook was stolen and has not yet been replaced so all I would write about is "I was burgled! I have wistful memories of reading I meant to do!" Given that I was supposed to be writing the robust follow-up of the original wistful article, this simply doesn't work.

I have this afternoon to find something, read it and write about it, for this evening is all about dissertation and novel. Next week is about almost everything except BiblioBuffet.

This catch-up thing requires so much planning and sorting and thinking. It also requires more coffee.

ETA: I know what I shall write about. Something entirely crucial to all novels and short stories and poetry and even law journals, but that seldom gets a look-in. And I have the book out in front of me, for I needed to check something for my novel.

ETA2: It's half done already, with notes taken for the rest of it. This spares my eye (which is jumpy today) and means that I can start doing other work before dinner. One day I may actually stop being the Red Queen!!

Canberra Speculative Fiction Guild has a website. A new one. It's going 'live' in stages. The latest stage is a page for courses and workshops and the latest entry on that brand-new page is this: http://csfg.wordpress.com/2012/04/15/upcoming-world-building-course-with-gillian-polack/

Ian McHugh and Matthew Farrer are the ones doing the work, I believe. The rest of us just sit back and think "Thank goodness they're doing it."

The CSFG bibliography is already on the new website, I suspect, but (when the time is ripe) it will be echoed on my site, so that those who are accustomed to finding it there won't have to rearrange their thinking.
