I had a very long day yesterday, but most of it was great fun. I worked and washed dishes and stuff for an hour, then I taught, then I caught a bus to Sydney. The bus was the lowpoint of the day. The young man next to me wasn't chatty so I wasn't chatty and the trip was very long and a tad warm.
My cousin met me at Eddy Avenue and then I spent a lovely evening eating chocolate and drinking coffee with a whole bunch of people with strange names. Awesome people, but strange names :). Well, mostly strange names: Lynne and I are rare amongst Purplezoners in not using aliases (or in using our own names as aliases). Gee, but Purplezoners are a nice mob. And chocolate-addicted. Almost as chocolat-addicted as me. Except TH. He is more chocolate-addictde than me and works in Lindt's cafe to boot. In one five minute slab of speech he and I named the best places to buy gourmet chocolate in three country centres. And his girlfriend is from Camberwell - a man of great discrimination and taste (except she went to the wrong school - if she had been to Camberwell High she would have ben a perfect individual).
I spent the rest of the evening with my cousin, watching TV and chatting, then re-reading some Octavia Butler so I don't look like a complete fool on Saturday. Lovely evening.
I'm the most relaxed I've been in weeks. And I'm allowed onto my cousin's computer to work, which is quite obviously why I'm wriitng my LJ instead of sitting at the window that overlooks the Harbourr and writing acutely intelligent prose.
I had a choice between working today and visiting the QVB and Powerhose and I decided to get the work I brought down out of the way. If I can finish it by close of business, I get a day off tomorrow to do fun things. Yes, it's bribery of the best sort. I get to choose between The Rocks and shops and museums and galleries if I can only finish all the work I brought with me. And there's a nice lace shop in QVB and I need to visit it and the speciality shops nearby. So today is hard work and then pizza with my cousin and her daughter and her daughter's family. And there will be lots and lots of bad jokes cos this is the side of the family whence came all those bad jokes.
