I am not a publicity hound. Not. Not. Not. I am, however in shock.

The article about my family's cooking had a front page picture on the Food and Wine section and a double page spread inside. Karen Ingram wrote a good article, too. It all feels very strange.

I am watching Rita come in and I am very worried. All my friends are already packing for evacuation, but some of them have already been evacuated from Katrina. This area includes Houston and it has locals plus large chunks of the population of Louisiana. Many have nowhere to go. Everywhere they can run to is already taken with other people trying to stay safe.

And this particular hurricane is heading straight for my best friend.

I am wishing with all that is in me that the weather maps have it *wrong* and that the weather advisories are wrong and that everyone will be safe.
