Today is not a good day. Telstra isn't helping.

You know Telstra? That telecommunications company with whom I parted ways under unhappy circumstances (they couldn't find a way to let me pay my bills without incurring extra charges or undergo a walk to a retail outlet of their choice - sometimes both)? Months ago? yes, that Telstra.

I now have had my fourth phonecall telling me they want me back. This time I asked "Why are you ringing me for the fourth time?"

"We haven't rung you before."

I explained that he hadn't, but that this was the fourth phonecall and that each time I had been promised that this would be the last.

To be fair, the guy on the other end of the phone was mortified. Today is a high pain day though (I have exactly one spoon, for the spoonishly inclined and I'm saving it for essential shopping for tomorrow) and I didn't need that call.

I will be fine for the party tomorrow (cos I'm resting *heaps* today) - my place won't be perfectly beautiful though. I'm only doing the essentials in the housework front. It will be a relaxed and happy party, despite my nuisansical body.

PS I found a bit more energy and caught up a little on work. I'm still not happy at Telstra, but I'm less wan and feaneante.

It's Chanukah! Four candles burning, too. One lot for one festival and one for another. One lot gets divided into two (shamash and the candle that's the real one) and one doesn't. See, Judaism by numbers.

Talking about numbers, it's traditional in my family to give a tiny present for each night of Chanukah. Those of you who turn up tomorrow will get all eight in one day but it seems a tad unfair for people who aren't visiting me tomorrow to miss out entirely, so when I remember I will give you virtual presents. This is because I'm virtually almost nice. here's your present for First Night: http://gotmedieval.blogspot.com/2006/12/searching-for-medieval-patents.html
