May. 22nd, 2007 11:20 pmI'm taking a break here before I do another hour's work. This is first day out of bed (well, first afternoon/evening out of bed) and there is a backlog to catch up on. I'm doing the worst tonight and then teaching tomorrow morning and will worry about the rest of the future when it comes. The big thing is that the virus is slowly dissippating and that I can eat normally again. And I taught.
The funny thing is that work never really went away. It's the price of not doing a 9-5 job. Today was too much, though, and I know I'm overtired. I've nearly caught up on the most urgent stuff, though. Just one more thing and I can sleep.
I've decided that a portfolio existence is when you work at a number of disparate things you really love. You work on them when you are able to, and when you are unable to. You work on them when you are paid for them, and when you are on leave. And sometimes you work on them between interesting bathroom episodes.
On a different topic (nearly), I need to really, really, really write to Russell K and ask him if he minds putting his map on his webpage so I can dissect it in public. Russell's map fits my theory of cartoon spread, and shows why it would work better for some novels than for others. Russell, please read my blog and save me an email in a busy week. I promise it will be a nice dissection :).
