Today is announcement day.

First, for less than the price of coffee and cake, you can visit the amazing world of New Ceres. When it's brought to life for you by writers such as Lucy Sussex and Jay Lake, you'd be rather foolish to miss out. http://www.newceres.com/

Second, I owe two half prizes. If you recognise your wondrous words in the advertisment below, please claim them. I've given due thought to what half a prize entails, and it's more than half a Tim-Tam.

"England for time travellers: a writers' excursion to Medieval England. 16 days, July 2008
Do you write (or want to write) fiction using the Middle Ages? Join Gillian in York and London in 2008. There will be seminars and excursions to learn about the Middle Ages, plus time for writing and having fun. The tour leader is Dr Gillian Polack, Medieval historian, historical fiction adviser and fiction writer."
Please contact the Centre for Continuing Education (02-61252892 or email enquiries.cce@anu.edu.au with your mail address if you want to know more. There will be an information night for Canberrans on 25 July at 5.30 pm, but the tour can be booked from anywhere.

I notice they left out the bit about my evil sense of humour :).

Also, the Winter and Spring programs are out for the Centre for Continuing Education, so I now know my potential teaching load (assuming everything goes ahead) for the rest of the year. I hope everything goes ahead - there are some wonderful courses. Let me list them:

June
Blogging for fun

July-August
Tales of King Arthur from early times to Tom Thumb
Not just chicken soup: the secret history of Jewish cooking
Writing your family's history

September-November
Living in London in the Middle Ages
Magic and myth in the Middle Ages
Medieval women

PS This is the newly-advertised courses only - the others haven't mysteriously disappeared.

PPS I have wanted to teach the secret history of Jewish cooking for so very long!

PPPS the ones from September are all 'popular demand' ones. If 'popular demand' fails to materialise (as often happens when a course is advertised because people want it, I plan to have some quiet writing time.

PPPPS All this is in lieu of thinking, because I still have that idiot virus. I had a meeting this morning and I was told firmly I should spend the rest of the day in bed.

PPPPPS I'm writing the extra post script because I can.
